Woman arrested for drug peddling

55-year-old was transporting 32 kg of ganja to Mumbai

Government Railway Police (GRP)’s drive against drug peddling on Thursday led to the arrest of a 55-year-old woman for transporting ganja from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai. Baina Laxmi of Srikakulam was apprehended at Secunderabad railway station from LTT Express. Police seized 32 kg of dry ganja.

A 30-year-old woman was arrested at the Secunderabad railway station here for alleged theft on running trains and railway stations. GRP SP G. Ashok Kumar said Ryalamadugu Swaroopa alias Anitha, who hails from Nizamabad, was apprehended from platform no.1. “Nine grams of gold ornaments worth ₹2.70 lakh were seized from her,” he said.
