The BJP has questioned the invitation to some select members of the Nizam family for OU centenary celebrations and asked Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in what capacity they have been invited as guests to a State event. Krishna Saagar Rao, BJP spokesperson, in a statement said, “KCR continues to recognise the family of Nizam as State guests and wants to bow to the foreign oppressor who ruled this region beyond August 15, 1947. He continues his Muslim vote bank politics even on a university campus, during historic celebrations,” he said.
“TRS politics borders on anti-nationalism and disrespects the history and cultural heritage of Telangana region, where thousands sacrificed their lives fighting against the oppressive rule of Nizam,” he said. Mr. Rao also demanded Chief Minister’s apology to Osmania University students before he visits the campus for the centennial celebrations for neglecting the university for the last three years.
