The west zone police seized Rs. 11 crore cash and 2.8 kgs of gold during vehicle checking conducted in view of general elections till now. A total of 177 FIR’s have been registered against candidates of various political parties for violations of Model Code of Conduct.
Speaking to reporters DCP (west) V. Satyanarayana said that 1,113 polling stations fall under the West Zone of which 93 have been identified as critical and 58 hyper critical. To maintain law and order 107 mobile parties have been formed apart from 63 striking force parties and five special striking force parties. A total of 1,278 persons were bound over for good behaviour.
Necessary security arrangements have been made to prevent any trouble in Nampally, Goshamahal, Karwan and Jubilee Hills Assembly constituencies, he said. The police have appealed to the public to cooperate with them to ensure a free, fair and peaceful polling.
