Web counselling for PG medical seats begins

April 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The web counselling for admissions to post-graduate medical seats separately in colleges of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana began on Friday though a common written entrance test for candidates from both States was conducted earlier under the aegis of NTR University of Health Sciences.

This was the first time that the NTR University of Health Sciences took up admissions exclusively for seats in Andhra and Rayalaseema while Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences carried out admissions for Telangana. Hence, two different schedules for admissions were given, said the Kaloji Narayana Rao university vice-chancellor B. Karunakar Reddy and Registrar T. Venkateswara Rao. Addressing a press conference here, Dr. Karunakar Reddy said the first stage of counselling involved verification of certificates for candidates in Andhra and Sri Venkateswara University areas at JNTU here from April 22 to 24. However, the candidates of Telangana will be eligible for 15 per cent unreserved seats in AP.

The verification for Telangana candidates for local seats will take place at JNTU and Kakatiya University in Warangal from April 24 to 26. Here again, AP candidates can compete for 15 per cent unreserved seats.

Dr. Reddy said the candidates will get a password after registration and they will have to give web options two days later. They could give any number of options and for all seats in all colleges. Then, web based allotment of seats will be done following the rule of reservation. The convenor will check the list manually and release it within 48 hours of allotment.

The first list of candidates will be released on May 2 when the academic year of post-graduate courses will commence. The admissions will be completed with the third list on May 31.

Dr. Reddy also said the Kaloji university will also do admissions for MBBS, nursing, Ayush and paramedic courses from this year.
