An old water pipeline burst at Keshavguda near ECIL in the early hours of Tuesday resulting in traffic disruption and loss of water. The asbestos cement pipeline of less than two feet diameter broke at the joints when a heavy truck carrying cement bags passed over it around 4 a.m.
Distribution line
The distribution line which carries Manjeera water from Sainikpuri reservoir to Moula Ali made bulk supplies to ECIL, DA colony and Cherlapally village.
Repair works
Though residents said copious amount of water gushed out as the pipeline broke, Water Board officials said it was not more than 660 kl. The supply line was immediately shut down, but the Water Board could not take up repair works straight away as the traffic police did not permit. The Board engineers were told to carry out the repairs during night when the traffic would be thin.
