Water levels fall in Telangana

The groundwater department of Telangana government has put out a report that the water level fluctuation last month as compared to the same period last year indicated fall in almost all parts of the State, except Mahbubnagar and Khammam.

This year, the State received 35 per cent less rainfall which was categorised as deficit rainfall against the normal which resulted in a fall of 3.51 mts in the groundwater level over November last year. It could lead to stress in groundwater situation and further decline in levels. The average groundwater level for the State last month was 9.70 mts against 6.19 mts in November last year. The fall in levels was in the range of 1.32 to 5.61 mts across districts.
