The city police played the good Samaritan again and reached out to the truck drivers by organising a programme titled Me Kosam where drivers were offered free medical services here on Thursday.

About 150 heavy-vehicle drivers were given free medical services such as eye check-up and others while medicine was distributed free of cost.

The camp was held at Shubham Kalyana Mandapam at Hasanparthy. Earlier, the police had held two such events at Mamnoor and Atmakur.

Addressing the drivers, City Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu urged them to drive cautiously without violating any traffic rule and being within the speed limit. The drivers were urged to not drink and drive.

The Commissioner said they would soon be setting up a road accident analysis centre which would study the reasons for road accidents. It would also have special personnel who would reach the accident spot and take up rescue and rehabilitation of the victims.

Central zone DCP Venugopal Rao, Kazipet ACP B. Janardhan, Motor Vehicle Inspector K. Venu, doctors Somasekhar, Surender Reddy and Ravi Prakash were present.
