A walk to sensitise public on children’s eye health was organised by L.V. Prasad Eye Institute from its hospital at Banjara Hills to Jubilee Hills check-post and back on Sunday morning. It was held as part of Children’s Eye Care Week observed by the institute. Children from different schools participated in the walk along with a large number of doctors and general public. A costumed character of Chota Bheem was present to cheer the crowd. The focus of this year’s awareness campaign is Lazy Eye and squint and the need for early eye screening and detection among children. The Lazy Eye is a common problem among children where the vision in one eye gets weak or blurred. It usually goes undetected unless parents get the eyes of the children screened. Ramesh Kekunnaya, head of Child Sight Institute at L.V. Prasad Eye Institute spoke.
