The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is looking for retired employees with commitment to society for taking further its philanthropic initiative of the ‘Wall of Kindness’.

Baptised as ‘Kindness Volunteers’, the senior citizens will man the shelters to be set up at various locations in the city, and register the details of donors as well as beneficiaries of the philanthropy.Through the ‘Wall of Kindness’ initiatives, the GHMC is receiving used clothes and books from people at 50 locations in the city, to distribute them among the have-nots. However, there has not been any tab so far on who is receiving the hand-outs.

To address this, Municipal Commissioner B.Janardhan Reddy has called for services of senior citizens and voluntary organisations who can take up the responsibility of ensuring that only deserving candidates get the benefit of the initiative.

“Our ‘Wall of Kindness’ initiative has received huge response from people, and has been successful. Many students have benefited from the books donated at the City Central Library at Chikkadpally. We wish to rope in senior citizens into the initiative to take it forward,” Mr.Reddy said.

The volunteers will have to register the details of donors as well as recipients, so as to ensure that only genuine people get the benefit.
