UoH revokes suspension of 4 Dalit students

September 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - Hyderabad:

University of Hyderabad (UoH) on Friday revoked the suspension of four Dalit students of Ambedkar Students Association based on a representation submitted by students of the varsity on September 10.

Students have been staging protests at UoH for the past two days asking the university administration to revoke the suspension. The university, however, will set up a committee to inquire into a clash that allegedly took place on August 3 between two student groups ASA and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, that led to the suspension. Students organisations on campus have been protesting the suspension, citing lack of evidence.

About 280 students who protested also stated that an inquiry conducted by an earlier committee was ambiguous as no medical evidence was produced implicating the accused students.
