Notwithstanding the delays caused by shifting of the transmission utilities, and further delay to be caused by the upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), the work on the construction of underpass near Ayyappa Society Junction at Madhapur, as part of the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), is expected to be completed by December 31, three months ahead of schedule.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has informed that the 10-meter wide and 450-meter long underpass would be built in two lanes between Ayyappa Society and Kondapur.

The busy junction witnesses a total of 9,000 vehicles plying on road per day, which is expected to increase to 19,000 by 2035.

Work had begun on August 8, 2016, and is expected to be completed by March next year. Meanwhile, the work progress was hampered due to delay in shifting of high-tension lines and also the recent spell of rain.

Sources informed that it may be further delayed by the GES-2017 scheduled for later this month, as the road has to be made motorable by the time the summit begins. Work may be stopped altogether when the summit begins.

The other components of the project for which the work has been awarded would take up to December next year for completion, the officials informed.

Near Mindspace Junction, the underpass is scheduled for completion by March next year, while the flyover would take up to September next.

Near L.B. Nagar, the Chintalkunta underpass would be completed by March next year, but the flyover near Kamineni may take time up to September.

The flyover near L.B. Nagar junction, however, would be completed only by December next year.
