Schoolchildren, employees and others may have a tough time in reaching their school and workplaces on Wednesday as autorickshaw unions and RTC Employees Union have decided to participate in the two-day general strike by trade unions.

Autos ferrying schoolchildren and educational institution buses would remain off the road, said A.P. Auto and Trolley Drivers Union secretary M. Kamalakar Reddy in a statement here on Tuesday. City bus operations could be affected as RTC Employees Union also extended its support to the strike.

However, RTC authorities claimed that measures would be taken to avoid inconvenience to commuters. “The State government has failed to implement welfare schemes for autorickshaw drivers.

“We have been asking for a welfare board since many years but the government has not taken any measures,” said M.A Saleem, president of Twin Cities Autorickshaw Owners Welfare Association in a press release.

MMTS schedule

Meanwhile, South Central Railway is operating seven additional MMTS services on Wednesday on Lingampalli-Hyderabad-Secunderabad section.
