An Emirates national, accused of sexually exploiting a Hyderabadi woman in the guise of marriage, and his younger brother who arrived here with a similar intention were arrested by the Cyberabad police on Thursday.

Salim Obaid Sayeed Shamlan AlZaabi, 52, married a 30-year-old woman from a poor family and allegedly plotted to fly back to UAE after spending a few days with her here. Meanwhile, his brother, Ibrahim Obaid Sayeed Shamlan AlZaabi, 48, flew into Hyderabad with similar plan, the police said.

Along with the two siblings, a marriage broker Mohd. Shafi from Bandlaguda, 51, and a Qazi Mohd. Habeeb Ali, 60, who performed Salim's marriage, were also arrested. “Salim came to Hyderabad to sexually exploit women in the guise of marriage. He approached the broker Shafi to identify women,” the investigators said.

The duo went to the house of a jobless person in Akbar colony of Mailardevpally. Shafi told the person that Salim was ready to marry his daughter who was around 30 years. “Because of poverty and lack of job, the man couldn't perform his daughter's marriage. Salim took advantage of their poverty,” the police said.

Shafi gave ₹40,000 out of the ₹70,000 collected fromg the UAE national and kept the remaining sum with him as commission. The duo collected signatures of the woman and her father on bond papers.

Shafi approached the Qazi Habeeb Ali to perform the marriage and offered him ₹10,000, the police said. While performing the marriage, he told the bride and her father that he would send the bond papers to Mumbai to secure marriage certificate.

“He didn't send the papers to anyone and kept them with himself,” the investigators said.

On learning this, his younger brother, Ibrahim, flew into Hyderabad and approached the same broker. But he insisted that he wanted to marry a minor. Shafi ad shown him photos of some girls. On a tip-off, the Cyberabad Special Operations Team (Shamshabad) sleuths caught the quartet and handed them over to the Mailardevpally police.
