Two persons held on charge of cheating

The Hyderabad police on Wednesday arrested two persons on the charge of cheating. In the first instance, Velamala Narayana Rao alias Naidu was arrested for allegedly collecting money from some private hospitals claiming to be a senior officer of Arogyasri office.

The accused had duped some hospitals of several lakhs of rupees in a similar fashion in Andhra Pradesh and was arrested. He collected details of the private hospitals which had to receive money from the government for treating patients under Arogyasri scheme. He would call the hospitals posing as an official from the accounts wing of Arogyasri.

“He used to tell them to deposit money in specific bank accounts so that he can help them clear their pending bills,” the Hyderabad Central Crime Station sleuths said.

In another case, the Shahinayatgunj police of West Zone arrested a 32-year-old person Manda Rajesh, who was accused of cheating several persons. Rajesh used to claim that he was a journalist and worked for a web channel.

In one case, he allegedly collected ₹80 lakh from a person promising to get a criminal case closed. which was registered against the latter in Moinabad police station of Cyberabad. He posed himself as a police officer in this case.

In a second case, he was accused of receiving ₹30 lakh from a person promising to secure him a firearm licence from Union Home Ministry.
