Two held for multi-level marketing fraud

The Central Crime Station (CCS) police on Sunday nabbed two persons, including a woman, on charges of cheating people. The accused had promised high interest for investments in their Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) scheme.

The duo has been identified as G. Ratnakumari alias Keerthana (32) of New Maruthinagar in Saroornagar and R. Pandu alias Dinesh Reddy (45) of Nagole. Four computers, gold ornaments weighing 12 tola and Rs.19.56 lakh in cash – all worth over Rs.23 lakh were recovered from them. They are said to have cheated people to the tune of Rs.45 lakh.

The duo lured people through media advertisements inviting them to invest money in different schemes, bedsides promising additional commission for introducing new members. The accused also promised to deposit the amount directly into the investors account. After receiving huge amounts, Ratnakumari and Pandu would switch off their mobile phones, severing all contact with the investors.
