The 15 day jail term and a fine of Rs.2000 for DUI[Driving Under the influence(of Chemical substances)] awarded to two drunk drivers is the most laughable. The offenders never learn their lessons or rather, they refuse to do so.The only way is to suspend their licenses for six months for the first offence, one year for the second and permanent cancellation for the third. The fines and jail terms should also be progressively stepped up.Further,in the event a death is caused, the drunk driver should be charged under section 304-PartII of the IPC with no benefit of doubt that he/she
was not aware. These drivers know the consequences fully and should not be spared.
I agree that drunker driving demands punishments. However in India we have two
separate rules. One for the common man and other for the politicians/rich and
famous.
How come Salman Khan who was drunk and ran his car over dozen's of people +
killed 2 of them is still out for 12 years now. Why is he treated different? What is the point of justice if it takes over 12 years.
