Two persons, including a minor, were electrocuted, and two others sustained serious injuries when they came in contact with an electric line in Mothey mandal here on Saturday.

The victims — P. Srikanth (22) and V. Mahesh (17), both from Raghavapurm village in the mandal — died on the spot on their agricultural land, and the two injured persons were shifted to the Area Hospital for treatment.

Both victims and two other friends, M. Venkatesh and B. Venkanna, took part in repairing a bore-well on the land. They were reportedly arranging a galvanised iron wire and stick support to their electric line to prevent its fall during strong wind and rain.

“A simultaneous electric work was undertaken by officials at a nearby place. The victims must have assumed that the line was switched off,” the police said.

The minor boy, who died, was an Intermediate student, the police said. Investigation was on.
