TSRTC steps up eco-friendly measures

July 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) took its environment-friendly initiatives up a notch, by deciding to adopt some of its services to use 100 per cent bio-diesel. Joint Managing Director, TSRTC, G.V. Ramana Rao, on Friday flagged off the first of such buses from Barkatpura depot.

The corporation had, as a pilot, started running 134 buses with compressed natural gas (CNG), but using a blend of only 10 per cent CNG with the high speed diesel its buses run on. Based on the trials and experience thus gained, it has now decided to use bio-diesel regularly and go forward with the objective of converting all its buses in the 35 depots of Hyderabad City Zone and Greater Hyderabad Zone.
