Addressing a gathering at the third Telangana formation day celebrations held at the district headquarters on Friday, Chief Secretary S.P. Singh said the State has set an example in the country with regards to implementation of several welfare measures. He highlighted that at 17.82 %, the State has achieved the national highest in income growth rate, as predicted by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Talking about the welfare schemes implemented by the government, he reiterated that, “For the first time in the history of the nation, as many as 31 districts were formed in the State. With this, the administration came close to the public. As many as 35 welfare schemes have been implemented on a budget of ₹40,000 crore.” He said two more schemes, KCR Kit for the newborn and a pension scheme for single women, would be implemented from Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Referring to the sheep distribution scheme, Mr. Singh said 84 lakh sheep would be distributed to four lakh families which would help generate revenue worth ₹20,000 crore in the coming years.
In the context of irrigation, the Chief Secretary said the government has been making efforts to provide irrigation facility to about one crore acres for which funds have already been allocated in the budget. He also said irrigation provisions were provided for 30,000 acres under Singoor ayacut and it would be extended to another 20,000 acres in the course of this year. He also touched upon the progress being made in Mission Baghiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Haritha Haram, and double bedroom houses.
