TS sanctions two lakh houses

Telangana Government on Wednesday issued orders sanctioning construction of two lakh double bedroom houses in rural, urban and GHMC areas, with cent percent government subsidy.

The cost for the house is fixed as Rs.5.04 lakh in rural areas, and Rs.5.3 lakh in urban areas of nine districts other than the GHMC. However, in urban parts of GHMC, the unit cost for a double bedroom house is fixed at Rs.7 lakh. The infrastructure cost per house will be Rs.1.25 lakh in rural areas and Rs.0.75 lakh in the GHMC and other urban areas. The whole cost will be borne by the Government.

The programme will be implemented in all the districts by district collectors and in the capital city, by the GHMC Commissioner. The allocations and channelisation of funds will be done by the Housing Department through project monitoring unit constituted for the specific purpose.

Telangana State Housing Corporation Managing Director will take necessary action from sanctioning process to accessing the funds from the funding agencies concerned for completion of the project, the order said.
