Twenty-four hours after Andhra Pradesh Transport Commissioner and senior IPS officer N.Balasubramanyam was publicly humiliated by the TDP MP Kesineni Nani and two other TDP legislators in full public view on the streets of Vijayawada, a WhatsApp message posted by an Andhra Pradesh origin police officer working in Telangana is sending shock waves.
“I had seen the assault footage on TV yesterday (on IPS officer Balasubramanyam). Felt extremely sad and frustrated. I am in a second thoughts on cadre change,” the officer wrote in the social media message on Sunday morning.
AP police criticised
Not stopping at that the young IPS officer working in Hyderabad presently did not mince words in saying, “shame on the part of AP police and the political leaders of Vijayawada.
Saddened to see that senior police officials are trying to strike a compromise.”
The officer said: “If this could happen to a sincere, committed and dedicated IPS officer like Balasubramanyam and yet the system fails to respond, then my very faith in the system stands shattered. Let’s see how the AP IPS Officers Association reacts.”
Sources said several IAS and IPS officers, ruling and opposition party leaders called up Mr. Balasubramanyam, who is Inspector General of Police and expressed anguish at the behaviour of the elected representatives. A top IAS officer, holding a very important position in the AP Government is said to have remarked that when all airlines could come together and ban Shiv Sena MP from flying on their carrier for assaulting an Air India officer, similar action should be taken in AP also.
