Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Leader of Opposition in the Council, Mohd. Ali Shabbir, on Thursday sought the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to certain projects that the ruling TRS government claimed as its own.
In a letter, they explained that the infrastructure for Mission Bhagiratha that he would be launching on August 7, during his maiden visit to the State – the pipeline, reservoirs, pump houses and the like were all established by the previous Congress regime and was scheduled to be launched in 2015 itself. They alleged that the TRS government had delayed it by a year to give an impression of having created the infrastructure on its own.
Detailing about a scheme launched in 2008, the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Sujala Sravanthi, they said it envisaged bringing 30 tmc of drinking water to the State capital. Through the pipelines, it was planned to cover villages en route between Ellampally and Hyderabad. However, they said that instead of sticking to this original design, the TRS government diverted Godavari water from Karimnagar to Gajwel, now represented by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, denying water to people of Karimnagar district.
The Congress leaders further alleged that thus, the TRS government was creating enmity between the people of Karimnagar and Medak districts.
They went on to state that in the name of re-designing, the government had completely disturbed the original plans of several projects across the State in moves that were ‘politically motivated’ and not backed by expert studies.
