The Trimex Sands Private Limited on Tuesday said it had acquired 200 acres for construction of the Rs. 700-crore new plant in Vajrapukotturu mandal.

Company’s Liaison Head N.L. Rao said many villagers had come forward voluntarily to hand over the land for laying road all along the 2.5-km stretch covering Sainuru, Tamadapeta, Uddana, and Ramakrishnapurm.

He handed over cheques to land owners at a media conference held in the Srikakulam Press Club.

Mr. Rao alleged that a few people with vested interests were creating trouble though the land owners were willing to part with their properties.

He assured that the company would take up various welfare measures under its Corporate Social Responsibility.

“The company has already allocated Rs.50 crore to take up welfare activities in the next five years. The company will also provide employment to people in Vajrapukotturu and surrounding areas after establishing the sand mining project,” he added.
