In a second such incident within a span of two months, a dacoit gang robbed passengers of the Hyderabad-bound Chennai Express near Nadikudi railway station in Guntur in the early hours of Thursday. The gang made away with around 10 tolas of gold ornaments from the women passengers.

According to railway police officials, some unknown persons pulled the chain and stopped the train between Nadikudi and Damacherla railway station a little after 2 a.m. Later, the miscreants snatched chains from the women passengers who were sitting near the windows in bogie numbers 10, 11 and 12, and fled under the cover of darkness.

“At least four persons are suspected to be involved in the incident,” Government Railway Police Secunderabad Inspector, K. Anjaneyulu, said. The passengers later approached the Secunderabad railway police and lodged a complaint in the morning.

In April, a gang of dacoits had looted the passengers of the same train in a similar manner at Piduguralla railway station.
