Army authorities have decided to enforce restrictions in a phased manner to regulate civil traffic around the AOC Centre from Thursday, October 2.
Traffic curbs would be imposed on the stretches of internal Army roads around the AOC Centre -- Entrenchment road, Wellington Road, Gough Road and Ordnance Road, according to a press release from the army authorities
The decision was taken in the wake of recent orders of the High Court and security implications. Initially restrictions will be enforced from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. with effect from Thursday and subsequently the dates for further phases of restrictions will be communicated to the people.
The press release said that sensitivities of the local population will be kept in mind and minimum inconvenience caused to the commuters. Meanwhile, heightened security measures and monitoring of the civil traffic are being enforced with immediate effect with the dual aim of addressing the security and functional concerns, the released added.
Meeting todayArmy authorities have also convened a meeting of the Residential Welfare Associations’ representatives at Shakti Auditorium near Officers Mess of AOC Centre at 4.30 p.m. today to clarify implementation modalities.
The Army authorities said that in a recent judgment the High Court of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has upheld the Army’s legitimate authority to restrict and regulate the civil traffic on military roads in view of the security and functional considerations and simultaneously vacated the stay order and dismissed all the petitions.
