At the first glance, they appear big stationery items. But a closer look reveals something more fascinating. The pencil, sharpener, eraser, fountain pen and a book are not mere showpieces, but bikes and cars that can also zoom around.
Designed by Guinness World record-holder K. Sudhakar of Sudha Cars Museum, they were unveiled on Wednesday to mark Children’s Day.
“They were designed over a period of six months using 50cc engines. One can travel in these vehicles at speeds between 30 kmph and 40 kmph,” Mr. Sudhakar says.
The size itself acknowledged the hard work and tremendous planning in making the items. The pencil bike measures eight feet in length and 1.4 feet in height, the sharpener car is 3.5 feet in length, 2-2 feet wide and 1.4 ft high, the eraser car is 3.3 feet in length, 1.6 feet wide and 2 feet high and the book car is 3.3 feet in length, 1.6 feet wide and 2 feet high.
“Initially, we worked with computer applications and later started the job,” he said. Mr. Sudhakar is known for his creativity.
