Close on the heels of a three-year-old boy being kidnapped from Lalaguda five days ago, and set free a couple of days later, two motorcyclists abducted a boy of the same age from Alugaddabavi in Secunderabad, police said on Tuesday.
Police believe it to be the handiwork of those involved in the Lalaguda case, but are clueless about the motive behind it.
In the fresh instance, the boy, Bharat Jogi, was playing with his two-year-old sibling Sunny Jogi near the railway track at Alugaddabavi around 3.30 p.m. on Tuesday when he was abducted. The kidnappers were said to have lured the boy by flashing a ten-rupee note.
The abducted boy’s parents, who hail from Bihar, live in the open land next to the railway track and earn a living selling balloons.
Initially, they went to the Gopalapuram police, but were then directed to the Chilakalguda station, under whose jurisdiction the crime took place.
“We started looking out for the boy, but even the parents don’t have a photograph of the kid,” Chilakalguda Inspector B. Anjaiah said.
The investigators are also trying to identify the kidnapper(s) involved in the Lalaguda incident, where the three-year-old, Shaik Nagoor Vali, was released just half-a-kilometre away from his house.
Police and parents of the boy were surprised that the abductors gave the boy a haircut even changed his clothes. “The garments were old, but in good condition. [A] haircut, changing clothes and his release without any ransom demand are all mysterious for now,” say Lalaguda police.
Interestingly, the kidnapper asked the boy if he knew the way to his house and only after making sure the boy would reach home safely did he leave the place.
