February 14, 2014 02:14 pm | Updated May 18, 2016 08:10 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Three students of Siva Sivani School at Kompally, who were missing after stepping out of their houses from Thursday, were found dead in a pond nearby the school on Friday.

Nikhil, 14, of eighth standard, Sravan, 15, and Indrajit, 14, both of seventh standard, started for the school on Thursday morning. But, they didn’t reach school. Parents of the students – living in and around Petbasheerabad- started inquiring with the school, relatives and friends but couldn’t find them till late on Thursday night.

They approached the Petbasheerabad police the next morning. While searching the locality, the police found clothes, bags and footwear of the students on the edge of a pond near Jayabheri Enclave, an abandoned real estate venture off City Planet multiplex.

“No one saw the three students entering the pond. But we suspect the three students came there and entered the pond apparently for swimming,” the Petbasheerabad Inspector Janaiah said.

Police believe the students ventured inside and lost their lives after slipping into deep waters. The police retrieved the bodies of the students with the help of locals and shifted them to Gandhi hospital morgue for conducting an autopsy.

There were no signs suggesting any foul play in their death, the Inspector said. A case of suspicious deaths was registered.
