Burglars struck at three houses in Hayathnagar on city outskirts in the early hours of Wednesday, within 24 hours of Cyberabad Police Commissioner Ch. Dwaraka Thirumala Rao visiting the local police station and cautioning them to take measures to check burglaries.
The offenders first broke into the house of a transport businessman Ravi at Raja Rajeshwara Colony and took away silver ornaments weighing 450 grams. While Ravi went to Yadagirigutta and stayed back for the night there, his wife was away at their relatives’ house attending a function.
The gang of thieves next targeted another locked house in adjacent RTC colony. The house owner B. Anjaneyulu, a real estate businessman, and his family members went out on personal work. The burglars collected silver jewellery and articles weighing 350 grams and entered the first floor portion of another house a few hundred yards away in the same colony.
The house owner Srinivasa Murthy, priest of Hanuman temple at White House in Saroornagar, his wife and son were asleep on the ground floor portion. The burglars made off with Rs. 2.5 lakh, 230 grams of gold ornaments and two kilos of silver jewellery and articles from the house.
