Labour department Officials on Thursday rescued three children from forced labour at an apartment in Ameerpet.
The children — Siva Sai, K. Rama, and Lakshmi, all aged 13 — were rescued from two houses in Millennium Residency complex on Dharam Karan Road. Deputy Commissioner of Labour S. Naresh Kumar said the first two children were rescued from the house of one N. Ajith from Nellore. Lakshmi, the third girl, was working for three months in the house owned by a builder, Durga Prasad.
After rescue, the girls were shifted to the government girls’ home in Nimboli Adda while the boy was sent to the one at Saidabad. All three would be produced before the Child Welfare Commission.
The employers have been served notices to pay Rs. 20, 000 toward each child. The amount will go into the Child Labour Rehabilitation Fund with the district collector, Mr. Naresh Kumar said. Criminal cases will be filed against the employers under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, he said.

Is a child's lost childhood is worth a meagre Rs. 20,000? This is
the 2nd raid on the same apartment. I live in the same apartment.
Earlier a film star living here was charged of child abuse and child
labour on a 9 year old girl. For people who think they are employing
children here is a wake-up call- A scarred childhood will create a
scarred adult who cannot judge what is right from wrong. The girl
Rama & Siva Sai who were rescued are compelled to use the watchman's
toilet located downstairs and not the ones in the apartment. They
cook their own food. Rama is often seen on the staircase every day
carrying and feeding a 2 year old infant, in her tender arms. I even
doubt if Rama & Siva Sai are 13 yrs old. They look 9 & 10 to me. And
these people in our apartment was expecting rest of us to play deaf-
mute to the situation while they conveniently rob the kids off their
childhood.
