The profession of photojournalists was tough and full of challenges as they have to be alert all the time and swing into action immediately after any important development, Chairman of Media Academy of Telangana State, Allam Narayana, said here on Saturday.

Speaking at the World Photography Day celebrations organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations, he said one good picture was worth a thousand words in a news report. A photo exhibition was also organised at the State Art Gallery on the occasion. A total of 820 photographs were sent as entries for the contest by 93 photographers.

Three photographers of The Hindu bagged prizes at the event — K.V.S. Giri and G.N. Rao in the best news picture category, Singam Venkataramana in Samskruti category and G.N. Rao in Palle Andalu category.
