A survey of Thammidikunta lake in Madhapur where controversial allegations of encroachments by N-Convention Centre cropped up three months ago, was taken by the Revenue and Irrigation Departments along with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) staff here on Friday.
24 buildings demolishedFilm actor Akkineni Nagarjuna’s N-Convention came into focus during the demolition drive against illegal ongoing constructions on the Gurukul Trust lands taken up by the GHMC in June.
The civic body demolished 24 unauthorised buildings in this prime locality and after allegations surfaced on the convention centre too having encroached into the buffer zone of Thammidikunta lake, an inspection was taken up then.
The joint inspection by the Revenue and Irrigation Departments along with GHMC had reported 1.20 acres of the full tank level and two acres of the buffer zone of the lake being encroached and the N-Convention disputed this and went for legal recourse.
Today, the survey was carried out in the presence of N-Convention representatives and went on till late in the evening.
“The exercise will continue tomorrow and the inputs will later be superimposed with revenue maps. For cross-check purpose, we are also working on the chain links and a final report will take a couple of days,” Serilingampally mandal Tehsildar K.Vidyasagar said.
Action only after surveyThe GHMC maintained that further action from its side would be taken up only after the survey work was completed.
“Our role comes in the issues of title and building permissions and once the FTL is fixed and reported, we will take action based on the revenue and irrigation report,” said an official.
The survey today was taken up after the GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar wrote to the Ranga Reddy district revenue and irrigation wings for fixing of the full tank levels.
“The stakeholders i.e., N-Convention was also informed for their presence during the survey work,” the official added.
