Tension prevailed at Qutb Colony in Langar Houz on Wednesday when the local people with the support of Majlis leaders stopped the revenue authorities from demolishing unauthorised constructions on the Langar Houz tank bed.
Authorities of the Revenue Department with the support of GHMC and the police took up the demolitions following court orders.
However, only 15 houses were demolished with the locals protesting.
Majlis legislator Muqtada Afsar Khan, who arrived at the scene, picked up an argument with the officials saying that they misguided him on demolishing only encroachments.
He threatened to stage a sit in at the place if the demolition was not stopped.
He demanded that the District Collector visit the spot following which officials stopped the drive.
R. S. Chandravathi, Tahsildar, Golconda, said that the demolitions were taken up on encroachments on the tank bed as the anti-land grabbing court had declared the structures illegal.
