Tension at Ranga Reddy court complex

February 27, 2015 01:48 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 07:35 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Tension prevailed at Ranga Reddy District Court Complex here on Friday as lawyers agitating for separate High Court for newly formed Telangana State closed the main gate and staged demonstration.

A group of lawyers squatted on the road in front of the gate, stopping judges, clients and other advocates from going inside from 10 a.m. Even as some persuaded them to allow them to get inside, the lawyers refused to let in anyone and raised slogans against the delay in bifurcation of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad.

While the L.B. Nagar police of Cyberabad rushed there and brought in additional forces, some persons hurled stones at the car of one of the judges. As the situation was going out of hands, the police used force and took the agitating lawyers into custody.

They were bundled into vehicles and taken to near-by police station. Lawyers in Telangana State had been boycotting courts demanding creation of separate High Court for the State for the past two weeks.
