The Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University has decided to organise year-long celebrations in connection with its silver jubilee celebrations starting from December 2.

Chief Minister K. Rosaiah would be launching the celebrations at a special programme organised at Ravindra Bharathi.

Apart from Hyderabad campus, the year-long celebrations would be conducted at Rajamundry, Srisailam, Kuchipudi in Krishna and Warangal districts.

Celebrations would include seminars, music and dance concerts, drama shows and other cultural programmes, said University vice-chancellor A. Bhoomaiah, while addressing a press conference here on Monday.

He said the university was planning to conduct centenary celebrations of eminent persons who excelled in the fields of Telugu literature and art annually.

To start with, the university authorities this year are conducting special programmes on Modern Telugu poet Srirangam Srinivasarao, better known as Sri Sri.

As part of the celebrations, the university is presenting the annual university excellence award to noted writer, B. Rajinikantha Rao and the Srisiddhendra Narthana award to Kuchipudi dancer Rajaradha Reddy.

“We are introducing the annual Best Teacher, Best Officer, Best NGO and Best Class IV Employee awards of the university and these awards would be presented during the silver celebrations. These celebrations would conclude next year with a grand closing ceremony,” said Mr. Bhoomaiah.
