Telangana to move Supreme Court on HC verdict

March 17, 2017 12:24 am | Updated 12:28 am IST - HYDERABAD

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao huddled into a meeting with the Advocate General and senior officials after the High Court dismissed the notification on dependants’ employment in SCCL, and decided to appeal against the verdict in the Supreme Court.

A release quoting Mr. Rao said the appeal will be filed in the SC at the earliest. A team of senior legal counsels, who specialised in labour laws, would be deputed for the purpose. The legal fight was to ensure implementation of a firm decision taken by the government to stand by coal workers who worked hard throughout their lives.

Mr. Rao made it clear that the government will wage a legal battle to get justice for dependants of SCCL workers who gave light to the nation by their hard work in difficult conditions. It was decided to extend jobs to dependants of employees to give their families a helping hand. However, some vested interests approached the court with malicious intentions.

Apart from Advocate General K. Ramakrishna Reddy, the meeting was attended by Chief Secretary S.P. Singh, and Principal Secretary in Chief Minister’s Office S. Narsing Rao, among others.
