The Telangana Government has failed to deliver its promises to the underprivileged communities, despite having come to power based on the Article 3 enshrined in the Indian Constitution by Dr.B.R.Ambedkar, the National Alliances for Dalit Organisations (NADO) noted at its state level convention.
The convention, conducted here on Saturday, which reviewed the status of Dalit, Adivasis, Minorities, and Nomadic Communities noted that the Telangana cabinet does not have single woman member which goes against the tenet of proporational representation, also the promise of Dalit chief minister was not fulfilled.
Joint electorates
The convention was organised by the Telangana wing of NADO, on the occasion of 84th year of Poona Pact, which had diluted the provisions of communal award for separate electorates for Dalits in favour of joint electorates.
The Poona Pact resulted in enslavement of Dalit and Aadivasi public representatives, rather than empowering them to serve their respective communities better, Charles Wesley Meesa, facilitator of NADO in Telangana said.
The convention, also had a panel discussion, aimed to critically evaluate the Poona Pact, and tried to understand its social and political implications, Mr.Meesa said.
In all, 35 organisations participated in the convention in which a number of prominent leaders, including Ambujakshan from Kerala, activist Cynthia Stephen from Bangalore, and Gali Vinod Kumar, an academic from Telangana, were present.
