Clearances for inter-State barrage to be sought

A presentation on the inter-State barrage of Chanakha-Korata being constructed across the Penganga river by Telangana will be given at the meeting of environmental experts committee meeting to be held at Delhi on June 12.

Chief Engineer of irrigation projects in Adilabad district K. Bhagwanth Rao would give the presentation seeking environmental clearances to the project benefiting both Telangana and Maharashtra.

Preparatory work on the presentation was already done at a recent meeting held in the Environmental Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI) here.

The experts committee would give its nod based on the steps initiated to reduce the impact of submergence, opinion of people of submergence villages and the impact of the project on environment.
