Telangana activists disrupt film shooting

March 02, 2011 02:24 pm | Updated 02:24 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Pro-Telangana activists on Wednesday disrupted shooting of a Telugu film by burning down the set at Aluru village in Chevella mandal of neighbouring Ranga Reddy district, nearly 60 kms from here.

Shooting of the film, produced by Welfare Creations and starring Allari Naresh, was cancelled and the unit returned to Hyderabad. No one was injured in the incident.

Only the technical staff of the film and no actors were present on the sets, Chevella police said.

The film unit had set up some effigies made with dry grass as backdrop for shooting a song when a group of persons arrived there around noon. Even as the film unit requested them not to damage the set, the protesters set the effigies on fire and fled.
