A week after teenaged actor Naarla Teja drowned in the Ganga at Rishikesh, his body was retrieved last night, family friends said here on Tuesday.

The actor’s bloated body surfaced in the waters, some 300 yards away from where he drowned.

Teja had reportedly gone swimming with other students of an Amritsar-based Academy, where he was a student. The students were in Rishikesh as part of the International Yoga Festival.

His body was taken to Dehradun where the autopsy was being conducted.

“The body would be shifted to Delhi for chemical treatment before flying it to Hyderabad on Wednesday,” a family-friend of the actor, Srinivas, informed The Hindu from Dehradun.
