In a gruesome incident, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 16-year-old boy, the son of a woman sarpanch reportedly owing allegiance to the ruling TRS, at Arekodu in Khammam rural mandal on Tuesday.
Sources said that the minor boy, a school dropout, allegedly whisked away the girl, a Class III student of a local school, while she was playing near her grandmother’s house late in the afternoon. He allegedly took her to a secluded place and sexually assaulted her in an inebriated condition, sources said.
Some local villagers found the girl profusely bleeding and crying in pain at the site of the incident. Alerted by them, the mother and grandmother of the girl shifted her to the District Headquarters Hospital in an ambulance. The condition of the girl was stated to be stable.
The Khammam rural police registered a case and are investigating.
