Cyberabad police arrested a techie on Tuesday who allegedly shared contact details of a woman online to portray her as a sex-worker.

According to the cyber crime wing of the Cyberabad Police, the accused Sandeep Kumar Gupta, working in Chennai, had allegedly shared the contact number and posted derogatory content about the woman on the internet, to defame her. Gupta, a spurned lover, was a colleague of the complainant.

The police received a complaint from the victim in which she claimed that her relatives and friends had received abusive emails from various email IDs. Approaching the cops, the woman expressed suspicion about Gupta. The police tracked down the accused and remanded him in judicial custody.
