Teachers affiliated to the constituent organisations of the Upadyaya Sanghala Porata Samithi (USPS) are up in arms against the alleged “backdoor transfer” of some teachers with political influence in the name of “check-slip” transfers ahead of the long-due imminent counselling for transfer and promotion of teachers working in State-run schools.
The Telangana State United Teachers Federation (TSUTF) and various other major unions representing the government teachers have expressed strong objections to the alleged transfer of several teachers at the behest of influential political leaders on the pretext of “check-slip” transfers on “unjustified grounds.”
Several teachers’ unions are crying foul over the alleged undesirable practice of transferring teachers with political patronage to the schools of their choice devoid of counselling by ‘misusing’ certain provisions governing the transfer process.
Counselling process
“Transfers were being effected even before the start of the long-awaited counselling process on irrational grounds with political influence causing grave injustice to the eligible teachers,” deplored TSUTF district president G. Nagamalleshwara Rao.
“The backdoor transfers should be stopped forthwith and the long due counselling be taken up for transfer and promotion of government teachers,” he said.
Mr. Nagamalleshwara Rao added that the TSUTF and other unions will stage a joint demonstration under the aegis of the USPS in front of the DEO’s office here on May 26 demanding immediate announcement of the counselling schedule.
The schedule for transfer of teachers should be completed in a transparent manner in strict compliance with the stipulated norms, he observed.
