Tata Motors on Tuesday opened bookings for its new hatchback Bolt, across Telangana and AP.

Addressing reporters at the car’s unveiling here on Wednesday, Tata Motors national sales head (South and East) Ashesh Dhar said hatchbacks accounted for nearly 50 per cent of the monthly car sales of around 12,000 in both States. It was an important market, he said, adding ever since the hatchback’s national launch, as many as 50,000 people had registered for a test drive.

Bolt comes in four petrol and four diesel variants. The petrol variants of the vehicle are priced at a range between Rs.4.45 lakh and Rs.6.09 lakh (ex-showroom Hyderabad), while those of diesel models are from Rs.5.55 lakh to Rs.7.08 lakh. The company hopes to strengthen its presence in the hatchback market with Bolt, whose features include multi-drive modes – Sport, Eco and City – and tou-chscreen infotainment that support video playback, smartphone-based navigation and the like.
