Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a clarion call to the BJP party functionaries to take up the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ from Independence Day of August 15 till September 17 when erstwhile Hyderabad was liberated and merged with Indian Union due to decisive action by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

At a large gathering of booth level party workers gathered from all over the State, Mr. Modi said the country will be celebrating the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ of carrying the tri-colour on two-wheelers around and paying homage to the freedom fighters and felicitating ex-servicemen for a week. “In Telangana, the yatra should go on till the day when it joined the Indian Union and not because it is Modi’s birthday,” he averred, amid cheers.

With a colourful handloom scarf, presented by BJP Telangana president K. Laxman, woven around his neck, the Prime Minister in his 50 minute speech touched several contemporary issues like the attacks on Dalits and GST Bill, even while mentioning about the scam free record of his Government and the several programmes initiated for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden.

Mr. Modi was appreciative of the handloom scarf gift especially so as it was the National Handloom Day. He made the gathering to hold up the mobile phones and switch on the flash lights to symbolise throwing light in the lives of weavers across the country. Inspired by the tricolour national flag, his Government was striving for Saffron revolution – power and energy for all, White revolution – increasing output of milk, diary products and cotton and Green revolution – improving agriculture output with infusion of technology to aid farmers. The blue Ashok chakra symbolises fishermen rights, gas and petroleum, trade by sea and naval power. While listing out various initiatives taken up he said his “High Command are all my countrymen” unlike the previous regime which “had a Government and High Command somewhere else”. Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said “development” was the only agenda of the Modi Government.

Union Ministers – Suresh Prabhu , Ananth Kumar , Piyush Goel , Bandaru Dattatreya And State leaders Dr. Laxman and G. Kishan Reddy were present.
