Accused demanded Rs.8,000 as bribe for releasing registration documents of a realtor’s plot

Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Thursday arrested the Sub-Registrar of Champapet, Ahmed Abdul Rawoof and his private driver Shafi, allegedly after he received Rs.8,000 bribe through the latter for releasing plot registration documents to a person.

A real estate businessman, Shami, got a plot of 200 square yards in Balapur locality registered nearly two weeks ago and approached the SR seeking registration documents.

“Rawoof sought Rs.8,000 to release the documents and received the sum through his driver while sitting in his office,” ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police S.K. Chandrashekhar said.

The DSP appealed to people to contact him on telephone No. 94404 46109 in case of corrupt practices by the State government employees.
