Students should make best use of the opportunities to make a niche for themselves, Executive Director NTPC-Ramagundam D. K. Dubey said.
He distributed merit scholarships to 142 students of government high schools and colleges totalling ₹4.26 lakh at a function organized in the NTPC township in Ramagundam of Peddapalli district on Friday.
The scholarships were distributed as part of its corporate social responsibility and NTPC Utkarsh – merit scholarships under NTPC Foundation.
Speaking on the occasion the Executive Director reiterated NTPC’s commitment for development of the nearby areas with special thrust on education. Among the 142 students, under regular scholarship scheme, 28 students from Class X students from 10 high schools; 40 students from Class X students from 14 High Schools under NTPC Utkarsh – Merit Scholarship and 74 intermediate students from six junior colleges under NTPC Utkarsh – Merit Scholarship received the merit scholarship of ₹3000 each.

Ramagundam Tahsildar A. Srinivas Rao, NTPC GM (Technical Services) S. R. Bhavaraju; corporators K. Kavitha and K. Sujatha and others spoke and motivated the students.
Mandal education officer from Ramagundam and Antergaon, AGM (HR-CSR) Rafiqul Islam, AGM (TS) G. V. V. V. Rao, Jeevan Raju, deputy manager (CSR) along with teachers and students were present at the programme.
The NTPC Utkarsh – Merit Scholarship under NTPC Foundation provides scholarship to meritorious students of nearby villages of a power project/Power station in the categories of Class X, Class XII, ITI, BE/B. Tech and MBBS. As per the scheme, while meritorious students in government schools/college in Class X and XII will receive ₹3000 per year, the meritorious students in government ITI will receive ₹5000 per year and meritorious students pursuing BE/B.Tech and MBBS from government college will receive ₹ 9000 per annum for four years.
