Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) vice chairman and managing director E.V. Narasimha Reddy on Friday underscored the significance of proper planning in the development of industrial parks.

Pointing out that lack of proper planning was posing infrastructural challenges in many of the existing industrial parks, which were conceived a few decades ago, he said the focus of the State government is on ensuring against such issues.

A lot of thought is going into the new parks, he said, adding that the focus on proper planning is one of the reasons for the time taken in the implementation of the process.

Mr.Reddy, who was addressing a conference on ‘World Class Manufacturing’ organised by industry body FICCI here, said in the proposed Pharma City, near Hyderabad, environment clearance is to be obtained for the entire 14,000 acres. “Whoever wants to set up unit in Pharma City [thus] need not go for public hearing... the entire process [will be] completed by us.”

TSIIC, which is the nodal agency for the project, has gone for an international bidding process and identified a world class master planner, he said, adding that 6,500 acres had been acquired for the project.

He also referred to the emphasis laid on proper planning for the NIMZ on 12,500 acres as well as the recently announced Medical Devices Park, near Hyderabad.

FICCI Telangana State Council chairman Devendra Surana said the conference is being organised to highlight the growth potential of the manufacturing sector.
