State team to scale Everest

A team of four to six people, including two women, all from Andhra Pradesh are currently on a mission to climb Mount Everest, as part of an expedition organised by the Adventure Club of Andhra Pradesh (ACAP). They are now just two days away from setting their feet on the summit.

The 12-member team led by K. Ranga Rao embarked on the expedition on March 28 from Hyderabad.

The team is expected to return to Hyderabad from Kathmandu on June 5, according to a press release.

Other team members are R. Kiran Kumar and R. Naveen Kumar from Warangal district, K. Mallesh from Medak, K. Sumatha from Kadapa, supported by R. Srinivas Rao, G. Richard, Bh. Ravindra Raju, M.B. Sudheer, L. Ganesh, P. Sandesh and K. Vijayalakshmi.

Mr. Rao said that other expeditions involved scaling Peak Rudugaira in Uttarakhand (5,819 metres) from June 15 to July 10, Deo-Tibba in Himachal Pradesh (6001 metres) between August 15 to September 10, Mt. Kalanag Peak in Uttarakhand and to Kulu-Manali between this December and January, 2011.
