Posts may come to many people but very few individuals can acquit themselves in every role and enhance and elevate the post by their own stature and Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu belongs to that rare category, said Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

The State Government made the civic reception to the Vice-President a special and memorable occasion in a grand, elegant way to the Telugu man who rose from the rank of party worker to the second highest constitutional post.

On a tastefully decorated Raj Bhavan lawns, the civic reception, attended by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Deputy Chief Ministers, Assembly Speaker, Council Chairman, MPs, MLAs, Chief Secretary, officials, eminent persons from various fields from both the States, reflected Telugu culture, tradition and hospitality.

What stood out in the civic reception was the speeches delivered by Chief Minister, Governor and congratulatory verses by litterateurs and Sanskrit scholars like Madula Nagaphaneendra Sharma. The civic reception looked more like literary conference as Mr.Rao, Mr.Narasimhan generously quoted Telugu poems and verses to drive home a point. So much so, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu said he was fortunate to hear such great speeches in chaste yet simple Telugu.

In a lavish praise of Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said Telangana State and people are honoured with the opportunity to accord first civic reception to the Vice-President. Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, after late N.T. Rama Rao, who brought recognition to Telugu people, who otherwise are used to be known as ‘Madrasis’ in Delhi. The recognition to Telugu people and their language further enhanced with Mr. Naidu becoming Vice-President.

Describing Mr. Naidu as a great orator, Mr. Rao said behind such excellence, there is a lot of effort and hard work.

Mr. Naidu’s speeches in any language stand out because of his command over language, content and delivery.

Recalling that he first heard Mr.Naidu when he delivered a speech against emergency in Siddipet, Mr. Rao described the Vice-President as a simple man who greeted them affectionately, setting aside Vice-President’s protocol, when they received him at the airport.

Governor Narasimhan said it is a great honour for Telugu people that Mr. Naidu became the Vice-President and said with his skills and networking, people would get to see a functional Rajya Sabha under his stewardship.

Union Minister Dattatreya said civic reception to Mr.Venkaiah Naidu is a proud moment for Telugu people and thanked the Chief Minister.

Earlier Vedic blessings were given to Mr. Naidu. The Chief Minister felicitated him with a shawl, garlands, citation, and mementoes - reflecting Telangana heritage.

A grand vegetarian lunch was hosted in honour of Vice President at Raj Bhavan by Governor.
